Rōnin: Densetsu and The Book of Yō - Digital Editions OUT NOW!

Hi everyone.
Well, you can read the title; the digital editions of Rōnin: Densetsu and The Book of Yō are out now!
We’ve also released the digital versions of the Quick Reference Cards, Double Sided Character Sheets, Kage no Shima Map and the GM Screen—which features illustrations of the various Ways (special techniques) found in Densetsu and quotes from the book arrayed in gorgeous kanji.
DriveThruRPG Distribution
As with before, these will be released directly into your DriveThruRPG accounts. If you don’t have an account, one will be automatically created for you using the email address from your pledge (if you already have an account created with a different email, DriveThru has a merge libraries function).
We know there were some teething problems with the Starter Set stuff - people not getting notification emails, products being slow to appear in accounts, etc. It looks on the backend like the system has been updated and, from what we can tell, you should all get automated emails this time. Please reach out to us by email or through our Discord if this doesn't happen, or if there are any other issues.
Oh, and if anything's not showing up in your account, first double-check that the item was in your pledge.
Update: We hear you. We'll be distributing the files through BackerKit downloads as well!
Better Later
We want to thank you all for being patient, and apologise for the slight delay in getting these two books out.
We had originally planned to release them at the same time as the Starter Set that dropped earlier this month, but by release day we still hadn’t heard back from the sensitivity reader we had booked back in July. This was a problem, because getting these sensitivity reads done is something that's very important to us. Since we didn’t want to push back the entire release, we decided to release just the Starter Set, and release the main books once we heard back from the sensitivity readers and made any final changes.
For a while there it looked like we might have been ghosted by someone who is professionally sensitive, which was a bit of a blow to the old self-esteem. But thankfully, it turned out to just be a tech issue on their end. The books have now been checked over, and as a little bonus, we’d arranged a different sensitivity reader while we weren’t hearing back and we’ve had different notes come back from each! It’s always great to get a wide variety of perspectives on this stuff, so it all kind of worked out for the best, if a little slower than we’d hoped.

Today we are thrilled to announce we're releasing the digital edition of the Starter Set, and everything that comes with it. That includes...

Shunkashūto: a quick-start adventure in 5 zines. Taking place across all four seasons, you'll hunt a band of infamous mercenaries across the entire island of Kage no Shima... and beyond.

Maps: an annotated map of Kage no Shima, along with battle maps for key locations in Shunkashūto and Yomi, the underworld of demons and spirits.

Tokens: character tokens for use with your preferred VTT. Features all the enemies found in Shunkashūto, as well as all the classes and Yomi demons found in the original core rulebook.

Quick Reference Cards: a set of handy reference cards containing statblocks for all the enemies and NPCs you'll encounter in Shunkashūto, and all the cool loot you'll find.

It's been a hell of a ride getting this Starter Set written, designed, illustrated and put together for all of you. A lot of late nights that turned into early mornings running on caffeine and sheer determination. A lot of double, triple, quadruple-checking every line of text, every map and illustration, every design choice.
This community has made it worth it the whole way. Honestly, a massive thank you to everyone for the support you've given us.

For those who don’t already know me, I’m Mill. I’ll be doing these updates from now on, to allow Slightly to focus on some other big, big stuff we have in the works. Digital Editions - Coming Soon!
Not long to wait now; we are very, very close to sending out the finished digital editions of Densetsu, The Book of Yō and the Starter Set adventure Shunkashūtō! We’ll be rolling them all out in their final forms at the same time, so we’re just adding some finishing visual touches (Dom has taken to muttering, “Grunge paper textures,” in his sleep as of late) and waiting on the final review from our sensitivity reader for the last of them.
Matt has added some gorgeous (and sometimes grotesque) illustrations to Shunkashūtō, and shuffled around some of the design elements to make the whole thing read better. Here's some last little tasters before we release the whole shebang.
What's Next?
Once the digital editions are locked in, we’ll be focusing on the manufacturing. This isn’t just the books themselves (although, natch) but also finalising designs with our manufacturers for things like the dice, boxes, embossed covers, reference cards, etc. Y’know, all that good stuff y’all unlocked as Stretch Goals.
This will be our last little communiqué before the digital editions drop, so if you’ve spotted any mistakes or typos in the Betas, or if you have any other corrections you’ve been too shy to bring up, head on over to the Discord and let us know while there’s still time!

Another Beta PDF! The Book of Yō is Here

Hi everyone,
Another update, another Beta PDF!
This week, we bring you The Book of Yō.
The Book of Yō Beta
Dom has finished laying out all of the Yōkai, and the book is looking great. He just needs a few more days to finish off some of the extra bits towards the end of the book, but we wanted to get the Beta into your hands in the meantime.
As with the Densetsu Beta, please keep the feedback coming. If you spot anything strange, find a rule that could use another look, or somehow manage to find another spelling mistake that has survived all of us, let us know on the Discord!
Densetsu is Almost Done
Densetsu itself is all but finished.
The book is currently with our sensitivity reader for a final review. Barring any major changes coming out of that process, we'll be able to action her feedback and get the final digital version out to everyone. Usually we'd get sensitivity reading during the text-only part of production but I thought going forward it's best to be reviewed in context with the art and design, etc.
Starter Set
The Starter Set is also coming together nicely.
Matt has now finished the layout and design for each of the four seasons and just needs another week or so to complete the remaining illustrations. Here's some screenshots so you can get an idea of how it's all shaping up.
What's Next?
The next update might actually arrive sooner than a month from now, because we're rapidly approaching the point where we'll have digital versions of all the remaining bits ready to send your way.
For now, though, dive into The Book of Yō, have a play around with everything, and let us know what you think.

Hi everyone,
First off, apologies for the three-day delay. Dom had a few final bits he wanted to tidy up before we shared this with you, but we all agreed it was worth the extra couple of days. This has been Dom the past week:
The Beta PDF is Ready
It's finally here!
I say beta because there are still a few finishing touches before we call it the final version, but the book is now in a place where we're really excited to get it into your hands.
One of the biggest things still to add is the Playtester Credits.
We'll be putting out a call over on the Discord shortly asking everyone who contributed feedback how they'd like to be credited in the book. If you'd like your name in Densetsu, make sure to hop in and let us know exactly how you'd like it to appear.
We're also waiting on the final versions of the Classes. Our good friend Totti–––who worked on the Berserkr class artwork–––has stepped in to give them another pass, so we're looking forward to getting those integrated soon. We're also working on the index and front/end papers.
Keep the Feedback Coming
As always, you lot somehow manage to spot things that both we and our editor completely miss. If you notice any spelling mistakes, grammar issues, awkward wording, or anything else that stands out while you're reading, please let us know.
Production Timeline
We're still on track to have the final versions of all the digital products ready by the end of this month. Once those are complete, we'll move fully into manufacturing.
Our current estimate is for shipments to leave China towards the end of September.
After that... well, it's largely in the hands of the shipping gods. Between global freight, the Strait of Hormuz, and everything else that can affect international logistics, there are always a few variables outside our control.
